I have a list
I want to work for a company that doesn't blink blankly at me when I say these things:
I will go to a place that : 1. does it's own software
I will not again work for a cmpany that provides services to company that does stuff
I will work for a company that does stuff ( subject to my own whim of what the hell that even means )
it means at least not service providers.
no consultant gigs, no MSP.
also they must have demonstrated excutive committment to a digital transformation.
i.e. they have cloud transformed at least one app.

1. Triple bottom line

3. Excellence
that's

they have to give a reaonable definistion of what devops means, and use it in a sentance.
They should be able to write a 1500 word essay on each topic explaining what it is and how they do it, without hesitation.
they have to bake security in to everything

they have to start with best practices and go from therte.
Security is baked in day one.

No design sees the light of day until all stake holders have participated.

They start with Best Practices and refine from there.

Straight man: LOL.. I think you might need to start this company

Definely not. I want to get back to doing what IT was supposed to do on day one: serve the business, not "self justify".

I should not have to defend an IT budget.

The success of the company should be the proof that we spend enough on IT.
The success of the company should be the proof that we spend enough on IT.
They must care about excellence.
They must care about excellence.
they must define it, they must evolve it , they must do it.
They must define it, they must evolve it, they must do it.

No in one part of the business, but in everything they do.
How many companies are on your shortlist?
I'm going to get head hunters to do with work.

Me:

I will not work with a company that provides service to a company that does stuff. I want to work for a company that does stuff.

  • No Professional Services.
  • No consulting
  • No mercenaries
  • Must own cradle to grave.

I will work for a company that writes it's own software, and believes that that is an integral part of being successful.

I want to work for a company that doesn't blink blankly at me when I say these things:

1. Triple bottom line

2. OODA loop

3. Excellence

They should be able to write a 1500 word essay on each topic explaining what it is and how they do it, without hesitation.

They must care about excellence. They must define it, they must evolve it, they must do it. No in one part of the business, but in everything they do.

Straight man: How many companies are on your shortlist?
