Key responsibilities include:-

• Developing monitoring and automation solutions for large data centers, primarily Linux based for cloud based solution including virtual devices. • Participating in traditional Waterfall and Agile projects in a team environment to deliver monitoring solutions for data centers. • Investigating new technologies and standards, making recommendations to the team, documenting best practices and tutoring other members of the team. • Development of innovative solutions that enable us to scale the Symantec.Cloud platform. This will take the form of processes, automation of manual tasks and self-healing. • Participating in the evaluation of third party tools or applications introduced into the production environment. • Working with software developers and quality assurance experts to provide technical leadership on systems development projects. Desired Skills & Experience

Essential

• Proven experience in a senior Unix/Linux SysAdmin or DevOps role, operating and maintaining large-scale, distributed Unix/Linux systems (1000+ machines). • Experience in participating in software development projects targeted toward systems administration and data center monitoring. • Demonstrated experience in monitoring, remotely upgrading and automating the control of cloud/data center devices. • Solid understanding of the needs of Network Operations Centers. • Ability to diagnose network or datacenter issues. • Experience with OSS technologies such as software deployment, rpm packages, yum, chef, puppet, • Proven experience in a technical role. • Excellent Unix scripting skills primarily Perl and Bourne shell. • Excellent TCP/IP networking skills with technical knowledge of firewalls, routers and load balancers. Knowledge of common protocols and technologies (e.g. Ethernet, TCP/IP, SMTP, SNMP, HTTP, LDAP, MQ, Active Directory, Kerberos).

Desirable • Familiarity with monitoring systems such as Zenoss, Nagios etc. • Experience working on Agile projects in a matrix organization. • Good working technical knowledge of open source web, mail and database servers (apache, qmail, exim, postgreSQL, mysql). • Experience with many operating systems (Windows, Linux, Solaris, Cisco IOS, Data OnTap). • Familiarity with Agile development practices • ITIL v3 Foundation or Practitioner certification • Experience articulating complex ideas in written/diagrammatic form • Enthusiastic and able to rally a team around a technical vision. • Familiarity with Direct-attached, SAN and NAS storage.
