This crosses me as a thought provoking issue. If we don't give businesses a reason to "innovate" who will? Do we wait for goverment / acedamia to do organize? So DNS is a "fact of nature" but is the method for amplification patentable? reasonably so? what's the alternative?

I think in many cases we tend to think of things in the context of how the market would work or how businesses would operate. What if this sort of technology was so pedestrian that the local walk in could do it for less than 5$. Do away with the commerce and get on with making life better. So how do we get from here to there with new technology? Comment! Tell us what you think.
