Job Description
The Solution Architect is responsible for pre- and post-sales technical support of products and technologies that are applicable to Scalar's customers and partners. Specifically, the Solution Architect role includes, but is not limited to, the following functions:
Develop and Maintain Expertise
- Demonstrate core competencies in technology from Scalar's strategic and emerging partners
- Provide first line technical support for pre-sales opportunities
- Develop in-depth knowledge of key products and technologies
- Technology/product research
- Competitive analysis
Pre-Sales Support
- Position Scalar technical solutions and expertise within customer environments
- Translate customer requirements into enterprise-level designs
- Validate the technical integrity of proposed solutions
- Technical validation of product quotes
- Provide technical content for RFPs and other customer proposals
- Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations
- Coordinate the execution of benchmark/proof of concept activities
Post-Sales Support
- Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of industry standards and methodologies
- Install and configure products and technologies to customer specifications
- Prepare and deliver customer documentation related to work performed
- Support customers with hardware/software on existing systems, where required
- Desired Skills & Experience
This is a senior technical role that requires deep technical and architectural know-how; candidates must have been successful in similar roles in the past.
- Prerequisite is 8 years experience and/or demonstrated capability in the IT field with at least 4 years as a network engineer or Solution Architect.
- Strong operational and/or design background in network engineering and network security
- Ability to assess and define network security requirements, and architect and deploy network security solutions and infrastructure.
- Has breadth & depth of industry knowledge - skills can be applied to all areas regardless of specialty.
- Experience and certification with some or all of the following vendors: F5 Networks, Brocade, Juniper Networks, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks.
- Undergraduate degree in any of the following is considered an asset; Computer Science, Engineering, Commerce (MIS) or Science, or completion of a diploma program from a recognized post secondary institution.
